What is an Online Career Event?

An online career event allows employers to meet online with students. During the event, you can:

  • Present to students with a PowerPoint presentation
  • Have recruiters, executives and other representatives from your company take turns presenting – they don’t event have to be in the same physical location!
  • Show career videos to students in real-time
  • Answer questions through the phone or through integrated instant messaging

Did You Know?

CareerCam surveyed students after a recent online career event. 71% of students surveyed said that they would rather attend an online career event than an on-campus info session. Take a look at the full survey.

How Do Online Career Events Work?
Invite Colleges and Universities.
Through your CareerCam account, you invite colleges and universities to attend. As a CareerCam member, you have access to our already established and growing collegiate network of over 90 schools. Additionally, you can invite colleges and universities that are not yet in CareerCam’s network. CareerCam will automatically send the invitation to the appropriate career services staff member. The staff member will then forward the invitation to student listservs, professors and other individuals within the school.
Students Register for the Event.
You can limit registration numbers and include a registration form to ensure students meet your criteria and you earn a good ROI. For instance, if you are looking for mechanical engineers with high GPAs that are interested in an internship, your registration form will ask each student to provide their major, GPA and whether they are looking for an internship or job. All this information is stored in a database. You can download it or generate reports with your CareerCam account.
Students Login to the Event.
Students are able to participate in your Online Career Event from their dorm rooms are apartments. In some cases, schools will have students come into their office to attend.
Conduct the Online Career Event.
After the students have logged in, the show is yours. You will likely introduce yourself and the other representatives from the company. After introductions, you may go through your presentation, show career videos in real-time and conduct Q&A sessions through audio and integrated instant messaging.
Direct Students to Apply.
At the end of the event, you can provide students with a “call-to-action”, such as applying for the internship or job on your career website or through career services. At Network Schools, you can work through career services and schedule a live video interview with students that participated in the Online Career Event.
