Join CareerCam and provide your students with a world of possibilities. A CareerCam Online Career Event is a lot like an on-campus information session.
With a webcam, employers are able to present internships and entry-level programs to students across the country. As a network school, you will also have the ability to post any recorded Online Career Events on your school’s Online Interview Site.
How Do Online Career Events Work?
- Employers Invite Colleges and Universities. Through CareerCam, employers can invite any college or university across the country to attend their Online Career Event. CareerCam sends the invitation to Career Service staff who will forward the invitation to students, listservs, professors and other interested individuals.
- Students Register for the Event. As students receive the Online Career Event invitation they can register for the event through an easy online registration. Employers are notified as students register for the event. Employers may limit registrants and include a registration form to ensure students meet their specific criteria. For instance, if an employer is looking for mechanical engineers, the registration form may ask each student for information including their major and whether they are seeking an internship or a full time job.
- Students Login to the Event. From the comfort of their dorm room or apartment, students will login to the Online Career Event.
- The Online Career Event Experience. CareerCam Online Career Events are a lot like in-person information session that employers conduct on-campus. The students will be able to see and hear the employer as they conduct a powerpoint or video presentation. Once the student logs in, they will be able to benefit from the following:
- Join the Teleconference. As students login, they will join the teleconference and hear everything the employer says.
- Document Collaboration. The employer may choose to go through a PowerPoint presentation or share Microsoft Word documents with students in real time.
- Live Video Streaming. If the employer has a webcam plugged in, students will be able to see the employer as they present.
- Instant Messaging. The employer may choose to turn on the instant messaging capabilities. With these capabilities, students will be able to instant message questions to the employer during the Online Career Event.
- Have a Question and Answer Session. At anytime throughout the presentation, the employer may ask if anybody has a question. Students with a question may virtually raise their hand to ask it.
- Follow-Up Video Interviews. If your school is also using CareerCam to facilitate video interviewing, employers will be able to work with your office to schedule video interviews with students after the Online Career Event.
